Building Company in Kherson Violates Graphisoft's Copyrights

The Investigative Department of the Police in Kherson Oblast is conducting a criminal investigation into a violation of copyright laws.

Vindex Law Firm has requested a local construction company in Kherson to cease the unauthorized use of the ArchiCAD software. However, despite the firm's warnings, the director of the company took no action to rectify the infringement. As a result, Vindex Law Firm filed a complaint with the law enforcement authorities regarding the violation of their client Graphisoft's copyrights.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers seized computer equipment containing unauthorized copies of computer programs from the company's office.

It has been determined that the employees of the construction company illegally cracked the ArchiCAD software used for architectural design and installed it on their work computers. Consequently, the company's illicit activities have caused Graphisoft a financial loss of over 50,000 euros. The criminal case has been initiated under Part 3 of Article 176 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which deals with "Violation of Copyright and Related Rights." The perpetrators could face a maximum penalty of up to six years' imprisonment. The investigation is currently underway to identify all individuals involved in this unlawful activity.

We will continue to provide updates as the pretrial investigation progresses.
